Law South propose to continue to offer professional skills courses with a view to keeping the Advocacy and Financial and Business Skills training as is but modifying the Client Care and Professional Standards module to reflect the needs of our member firms. It has been confirmed by the SRA that they now recognise online training as an extension of face-to-face training and so are happy for Law South to continue offering online training when required. Historically, Trainee Solicitors have been required to undertake 72 hours of training to complete the PSC which includes 24 hours covering the electives. We expect that member firms will want to maintain this overall level of professional skills training. We shall continue to support member firms with the development of professional skills for solicitors whether they are following the traditional Training Contract route to qualification (while this is still available) or the SQE route. To do this we shall ensure that courses retain SRA approval whilst this is still required and at the same time we are now however offering an increased number of electives from which you can choose. We look forward to your ongoing feedback on the programme and we shall continue to keep it fresh and matched to your business needs.
