Objectives

A short programme to support colleagues to grow and flourish as they deepen their experience and embrace new challenges.

Participants will complete their Lumina Spark psychometric in advance of a one-day in-person interactive workshop.  The workshop will involve discussion, activities and reflection.  In order to support the transfer of theory into practice they will also be given some action-learning sets and attend a two hour virtual workshop in order to follow-up on their developing practice, reflect and set up next steps for their professional development.

Content

Self-awareness and awareness of impact on others is a core element of leadership and management skills which sits at the heart of this programme.  It enables people to understand their own behavioural strengths and to start to flex their approach to meet of others who may have different needs.  We will use this developing awareness to consider what it means to take on management challenges such as:

  • Supporting and challenging others to contribute effectively to the team
  • Delegating effectively
  • Offering feedback clearly and appropriately
  • Being able to have difficult conversations with clients and colleagues, including the idea of delivering difficult information, influencing others, “managing up” and saying “no”

We will also consider why these sorts of skills matter in the context of a changing legal landscape and the need for future-facing leaders and managers to be able to:

  • Deliver outstanding “client experience”
  • Horizon-scan and develop commercial awareness in the context of changes in service-provision
  • Work with people with diverse experience and expertise in order to develop new ways of working
