Objectives
In the recent years, remote teams/home workers have become ever more common occurrence in the business world. Today it is common for companies to have teams dispersed across various regions. Colleagues are expected to work together while working apart. With an increase in dispersed, virtual and remote teams, managers face new challenges in working with their teams from a distance.
By the end of the workshop, delegates should be able to:
- Identify their individual and team’s skills and attributes
- Know how to build and maintain trust between themselves and home / remote worker
- Able to agree with their team how work performance will be supervised and measured
- Communicating effectively
- Identify ways that they will support and motivate individuals to develop their team skills further – including coaching, training etc.

- Differentiating between static and remote teams
- The impact of leading and managing remote teams?
- What is a team/ team dynamic and how are they affected by remote working and the absence of being based in an office or in a different office?
- How can remote teams be successful and why can they fail? How can being home based rather than being office based or be based in separate office (to their manager) affect individuals and the team.
- Building trust between manager and remote worker
- Helping team members make the move to home working successfully
- How do managers and colleagues effectively keep in touch with staff working remotely?
- Supervising, measuring and managing performance of remote workers –
- Task Achievement in Teams and effective work distribution amongst team members in remote teams – helping team members manage their time, organise/motivate themselves and manage their workload and their day (and working hours) from home or other offices.
- Supporting, motivating and developing the team from a distance
- Challenges and difficulties in managing single and multiple / remote teams
- Remote Team Management / Leadership styles and methods
