Aim:
This is a very practical course which is designed to provide delegates with the techniques for successful recruitment and selection interviewing, and to improve confidence and an opportunity to practice the skills and techniques learnt.
It is aligned to your organisations approved policy and documentation relative to recruitment and selection and interviewing candidates for vacancies.

• Using a job and person specification to identify key features of the job against which to match job applicants
o How to review and evaluate applications consistently and effectively
o Knowing how to shortlist applicants
o Identifying and using key competencies needed to be able to do the job
• Interview planning and preparation
o the importance of preparation
o the impact of getting it right and getting it wrong
o creating questions that will check competency against a person specification
• The sequence of the interview and conducting the interview – techniques & methods:
o opening and closing the interview
o proactive questioning techniques to engage and involve the applicantQuestioning, funneling, listening and summarising
o evaluating and checking competency against the person specification
o use of behavioural questions to elicit the right information and gain clarity
o observing and using body language in interviews
o understanding your own style, strengths and weaknesses
• Candidate Validation and evaluationo Assessment, competencies and skills validation and objective evaluation of applicants to determine suitability for the role, future needs of the successful applicant
